The school locations below, have made special arrangements for younger children who wish to study the language whilst their parents are also studying. In most cases the child will not study in the same class as their parent/s but will have private lessons at the same time or spend time in child care. Many of the schools can arrange child care with local baby sitters, kindergartens or even with the host family.

Spanish Language Programs

ARGENTINA
Buenos Aires - Regular program minimum age 4. No special programs or set curriculum for children, individual instruction is available with teachers who will teach at the child's level. Child care centers can be recommended, but families would have to handle their own arrangements. Families can stay together with sufficient notice, change in normal price.

Cordoba - Regular program minimum age 18. No special programs or set curriculum for children, individual instruction is available with teachers who will teach at the child's level (Approx. $17.00 per hour ). If 2 or more children are at the school at same time, if they are around same age and level, they can form a small group, same price as adult group instruction. Child care can be provided by the housemother or a baby-sitter. 4-5 hours/day, Mon-Fri, about $50.00 per week (changes in childcare cost common with short notice).

BOLIVIA
Sucre - Regular program is Group instruction, minimum age 14 (18 if traveling without a parent, teacher or legal guardian). Children program is 1-on-1 classes at same cost as adult, but children's program use more TV Spanish programs, audiocassettes, children's Spanish books & games to keep the learning process "fun". Child care can be arranged upon special request, the care center "Moni Disney" is for children aged 2-5 years. (Two sessions: 8 am - 12 noon and 2 pm -6 pm, Cost per day approx.: $4 for 4 hours. (Changes in childcare cost common with short notice.) Some families give half price if under age 5 if child is in the same room as parents, unless host family happens to have extra space).

CHILE
Santiago - Regular program minimum age is 16. Children program is 1-on-1 classes approx. $42.00 per hour for the first 40 hours, then $37.75 per hour for additional hours. If bringing several children around same age and level, a group can be formed. Child care centers can be recommended by the school.

COSTA RICA
Heredia - Regular group minimum age is 18. Children program is 1-on-1 classes approx. $15.00 per hour. Child care facility is only 2 blocks from school, (Monday - Friday, full day is $40.00 per week or 1/2 day is $20.00 per week).

Monteverde, Flamingo Beach & San Joaquin de Flores - Regular group minimum age is 15. Children program is 1-on-1 classes, please just add $75.00 per week to the regular program prices. If there are enough children to form special classes, they can study in groups at approx./ $10.00 per hour per child. The children are taught Spanish (grammar and vocabulary) through games, songs, flash cards, photos, pictures and activities. Child care centers can be recommended by the school, approx. cost is $4.00 per hour. Children under 7 pay half the home stay price which is approx. $70.00 over the normal fee. This is added to class prices.

San José - Regular group minimum age is 16. Children program offers a combination of class and field trips using visual and manual aids with teachers who are qualified and experienced with children. Private tutoring is approx. $22.00 per hour, minimum 8 hours per week. Two children around same age and level can study together approx. $17.00 per hour for group, minimum 8 hours per week. Child care, school can provide a Nanny service (lunch, housekeeping not included), approx. $5.00 per hour first child, $3.00 per hour for each additional child.

ECUADOR
Cuenca - Regular group minimum age is 18. Children's programs, ages 14 -18 can receive group instruction if accompanied by adult. Children under 14 can receive 1 on 1 tutoring if traveling with adult during the low season. This includes 2 hours of class and 2 hours of activities, including activities outside the school building. Child care can be provided by house mother, house worker or day care center approx. $30.00 per month.

Quito - Regular group minimum age is 16. Children program is 1-on-1 classes, includes use of special materials and games to keep process fun. Child care, is provided by House mother or nanny, cost approx. $6.00 per day, day while parents are in school (not night time or extra hours) and does not include food, diapers etc. Child care center is actually owned by the language school director's family and they send their own children. All day care 8 am -5 pm approx. cost $80.00 for 2 weeks. Round trip transportation available between home and language school and center approx. $30.00 per 2 weeks. Half day care: 8 am -12:30, $50.00 for 2 weeks, lunch not included. Home stay discount, 50% discount for children under 5 (same room as parents, unless host family has extra space).

GUATEMALA
Antigua - No regular group minimum age, all classes are 1 on 1 instruction. Program includes 4 hours per day including games, activities, special children's classroom. Possible to combine a few hours of instruction and a few hours of child care during the time that the parent is studying (4 or 6 hours), the price is same as an adult program. Child care can be at the Bilingual day care center "Jardin Bilingue", half the period is conducted in English and half in Spanish. Approx. hours from 7.30 am - 1.30 pm , cost approx. $45.00 per week. Baby-sitting is also available: 8:00-12:30 for approx. $10.00 per day or $35.00 per week. Baby sitting can also be arranged with house mother or house worker, around $25.00 per week.

MEXICO
Cancún - Regular group minimum age is 18. A children's program is available for children from 10 to 17 years of age, at the same price as the adult groups. Children's classes are set up on a one-on-one basis and are structured to meet the needs and language level of the individual child. Two or more children at the same level may study together, if desired. For younger children not taking classes, child care can be arranged for up to five hours per day (Monday -Friday) for approx. $75.00 per week.

Cuernavaca - Regular group minimum age is 14. A special child program is offered for children aged 5-12 in June and August. The emphasis is on learning some Spanish words and phrases, and on Mexican culture, with stories, crafts, music, short excursions around Cuernavaca, swimming in the school pool, etc. Takes place in a building adjacent to the main school building. Teachers are kindergarten or early elementary school teachers, sometimes American. Hours are 9am-1pm (same as the adult group program) Cost is approx. $85.00 per week (not including home stay). Seldom more than 3 or 4 children during any week. If 3 or more 11 and 12 year olds, they may be in a separate group. Not possible to predict how many children will be there at any one time, until the week prior. Outside of the summer, private instruction at same cost as adults. Plus, there are bilingual schools in Cuernavaca. Child care is offered at the señora of the house, her nanny or a local childcare center. Cost is between $40.00 and $75.00 per week. Extra time can be arranged on site.

Guanajuato - Regular group minimum age is 13. Children programs are formed within age groups and levels when possible or 1 on 1 private classes, with the same price as the adult group program. Child care is offered by the house mother or house worker between $2.50 and $4.00 per hour. Some home stays give discounts for children under 10.

Mérida - Regular group minimum age is 13. Children program is 1 on 1 private classes, cost approx. $250.00 for 10 hours, then $18.00 per hour for additional lessons. Groups formed if enough children (rarely). Child care is at a nearby child care center, about $100.00 per month and other options may be available.

Morelia - Minimum age is 6 and all classes are 1 on 1 instruction. Program will be adapted to child's age and level, same price as adult instruction. Child care can be provided by Baby sitters who come to the home stay or take children around city, approx. $7.00 per hour. Payment is made on site directly to the family. There are also bilingual kindergartens during the summer.

Oaxaca - Regular group minimum age is 15. Children program is 1 on 1 instruction or group instruction if there are other compatible children. Includes games, music, small excursions to parks, etc. and a hands-on approach. A special children's program for ages 5-14 and can read spanish will be held in August. The children can also join parents in 2 hour ceramic salsa and weaving workshops, approx. cost $25.00. Child care can be provided by a Nanny, approx. cost $100.00 per month and a few host families also offer this service. Families can usually stay in the same home stay, given sufficient lead time.

PANAMA
Panama City - Regular group minimum age is 15. Children's programs, if under 10 is 2 hours per day, 1 on 1 or group instruction (depends on if other children are at the school). The following approx. prices include language program, home stay and meals for children: 4 weeks: $900, 3 weeks: $675, 2 weeks:- $450, 1 wk: $250. Ages 10 to 14 are the same price and hours as the adult program, but specialized for children, group or 1 on 1, depending on if there are other children at the school at same time. Child care is available and recommended by the school upon arrival. Home stays are available without language classes to children ages 5-9 and price is same as adult.

PERU
Cusco - Regular group program minimum age is 18. Children's Program if between 12-17 years and traveling with parent, may receive group or private classes at same cost as adult. The children's program uses more TV Spanish programs, audiocassettes, children's Spanish books & games to keep the learning process "fun." Child care is available with the home stay Señora while the parents are in class.

PUERTO RICO
San Juan - Regular group program minimum age is 18. Children program is 1 on 1 instruction at approx. $15.00 per hour. Child care is not available at this school. Discounted rate if sharing room with travel companion (deduct $25.00 per week per person).

URUGUAY
Montevideo - Regular program minimum age is 12, all classes 1 on 1 tuition. Children program makes an efforts to keep the process fun. If bringing several children around same age and level, a group can be formed. Child care can be provided by the house mother approx. $70.00 per week or a Nanny $3.50 per hour. A daycare center is also available from.

SPAIN
Barcelona, Madrid and Salamanca - Minimum age for the regular program is 15. (Exceptions made if 14 and "mature'). Child care - upon request.

French Language Programs

SWITZERLAND
Montreux - Regular program minimum age is 17. They have selected summer program dates for 15 years olds. Students stay in the school residence with other students of same age but parents can attend the school but stay with host family.
